Convicted sex offender re-arrested in Bell County

BELL COUNTY - A convicted sex offender was back in jail Monday after failing to register with the Sex Offender Registration list.

Robert Wayne Abbott Jr.'s conviction dates back to July, 2009 when he received seven years probation in Limestone County.

His probation was transferred to Bell County because he lived in rural Bell County.

Bell County Sheriff's Department Special Crimes Investigators learned he was not registered as a sex offender in January of 2016.

His probation was revoked in July and he was placed in the Bell County Jail.  He was later transferred to Limestone County.

Abbot was released in August but as of September 9th he had failed to register with any law enforcement agency as a sex offender

Sheriff's deputies arrested him Friday, September 16th.  He was still in the jail Monday with a bond of  $100,000.
