Copperas Cove Color Guard proves 'force to be reckoned with'

COLLEGE STATION - The Copperas Cove High School Pride of Cove Winter Color Guard won second place at the state championship, competing against 13 other teams at Texas A&M in College Station last Saturday.

The team, which has mainly newer members this year, was bumped up to a higher competition class after a strong start to the season.

"It is almost unheard of to get promoted during the middle of the season and then receive a state award," Color Guard Director Nancy Norris said.

Last year's color guard won first place at the state championship, and this year's performance proves CCISD remains a force to be reckoned with, the district said.
