Copperas Cove detour expected due to downtown revitalization project

COPPERAS COVE - South Main Street in downtown Copperas Cove will be temporarily closed at Avenue D on June 19 and 20 due to construction.
 
On the following day, June 21, the outside eastbound lane of Avenue D between Main Street and 2nd Street will be closed. The 100 block of West Avenue D will remain closed to eastbound traffic for a couple more weeks. 

 
A detour route around the construction site is, as follows: motorists traveling north on Main Street must either turn east or west onto Avenue E, motorists traveling south on Main Street must either turn east or west on Avenue D, and motorists traveling west on Avenue D will not be permitted to turn south onto Main Street.  
 
The City of Copperas Cove began the Downtown Revitalization Project on Monday, January 16, 2017. The project is divided into three phases, with construction to be completed as follows: Phase III first, followed by Phase I, and lastly Phase II: Phase I – Avenue D, between 1st Street and Main Street Phase II – Avenue D, between Main Street and 2nd Street Phase III – Avenue D, between 3rd Street and 1st Street 
 
The contractor is preparing to move into Phase II, the last phase of the project. 
 
The City of Copperas Cove encourages the public, to include both pedestrians and motorists, to use caution while traveling in and around the designated construction site.
