Copperas Cove Standoff Ends Without Incident

Copperas Cove -- Police found themselves in a standoff lasting more than an hour in Copperas Cove after a man tried to elude capture by locking himself in the cab of a parked 18-wheeler.

That man, Christopher Bagley, had three warrants for his arrest issued by Lampasas County. Copperas Cove police had received a tip that he would be in their area on Avenue B near Copperas Cove Highschool. Police said that, when they attempted to arrest him, he found a way to enter the 18-wheeler and refused to come out.

Police carrying shields and assault rifles surrounded the vehicle while one officer tried to talk the man out with his car speaker. Bagley eventually came out of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Multiple witnesses at the scene said police used a type of smoke or gas grenade to force Bagley out of the vehicle but a police spokesperson said such devices were not used.

Bagley has been transferred to Lampasas County Jail. Copperas Cove Police have not charged Bagley with anything at this time.
