County, city approve close to $500,000 in grants to cover Twin Peaks costs

WACO - McLennan County Commissioners approved a grant of more than $268,000 from the state Tuesday to cover costs associated with the Twin Peaks biker shootout.

The money will cover the cost of housing inmates at the Jack Harwell Detention Center and pay for overtime for the sheriff's office and other county employees.

Nine bikers were killed and more than 20 others injured on May 17th, 2015 at the Twin Peaks in Waco.  More than 200 bikers were arrested in the days and weeks that followed.

More than 150 bikers have been indicted by a grand jury.

The City of Waco also approved a grant of more than $148,000 to cover all law enforcement and other assisting city agencies.
