WACO - New transportation services for seniors 65 years, or older, and individuals with disabilities living in Waco will be available May 22.
Central Texas Senior Ministry, or CTSM, Transit has partnered with Waco Transit System and McLennan County Rural Transit District to offer transportation services to locations like grocery stores, doctors officers and senior centers.
“In collaboration with Waco Transit, we are committed to be part of a system that makes public transportation accessible to the greatest number of people possible," Paula Owen, Director of CTSM Transit, said in a press release. "We are committed to delivering this transportation in an efficient, and reliable, manner for all citizens of McLennan County.
CTSM Transit provided transit services in the Waco Area from the 1970s until 2009, when funding was cut off, according to Owen. But, this new contractual agreement restores those services.
Fares for the transit are $3.00 one way, or $6.00 round trip. Pre-paid tickets may be purchased at the Meals on Wheels offices at 501 West Waco Drive in Waco.
