FBI arrests suspect for alleged defrauding in Woodway bank

RICHARDSON - A man is in federal custody for allegedly defrauding BBVA Compass Bank in Woodway.

Oladapo Fasan, 34, was arrested in his home in Richardson on April 6 by detectives from Woodway Public Service Department and agents from the FBI.

Woodway PSD received a report on January 10 from Compass bank involving an alleged fraudulent loan, officials said.

The bank reported that in late December 2016, the suspect had used personal information from a victim residing in Florida with fictitious identification documents to complete a home equity loan in excess of $85,000.

Officials said Hasan allegedly withdrew the full amount of the loan over the course of two days.

An investigation led detectives to the north Dallas area where he was identified as a suspect. A federal arrest warrant was obtained and Fasan was taken into custody without incident.

Woodway PSD worked with the San Antonio FBI, Waco Residency Agency Office, in pursuing federal charges against him.
