Fort Hood soldier charged after high-speed chase, crash

BELLMEAD - A 24-year-old Fort Hood soldier is in the McLennan County jail after leading police on a chase Tuesday afternoon.

Officials said around 2:00 p.m., officers saw a Chrysler 300 traveling more than 100 mph on southbound IH 35 near Crest Drive.

A Trooper activated their emergency lights to attempt to make a traffic stop. However, the Chrysler tried to evade the trooper and too the Behrens Circle exit.

As a result, the driver crashed through the stop sign and into Delta Inn sign.

He was not injured and has been charged with felony evading and taken to McLennan County Jail.
