MCLENNAN COUNTY - A report of a woman kidnapped sparked a high speed chase into McLennan County Tuesday morning.

By the time police stopped the vehicle, they discovered only the woman was inside and there had been no kidnapping.

The call originated from an Exxon gas station around 7:30 a.m. at mile marker 386 in Italy, in Ellis County.

Police caught up with the vehicle, a silver Chevy Traverse with black tinted windows.

Italy Police were joined in the chase by Milford Police, Hill County and McLennan County Sheriff's Departments and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS used spike sticks at mile marker 342B which forced the driver to exit at Crest Dr. then crash through a fence into a parked trailer.

The driver, Yolanda Shyvette Harris, 43, was not injured.  She was the only person in the SUV.

Harris had been reported as a missing endangered person out of Mesquite.

Italy Police took Harris into custody for evaluation.

Harris could possibly face charges of Filing a False Report to a Peace Officer and Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle.
