Two arrested, police searching for third suspect in kidnapping, rape

Two men are in jail and police are searching for a third after five women said they were kidnapped, threatened with a gun and two of them were raped at a South Austin apartment, police said.

An arrest affidavit said that police were called to the Super 8 Motel, located at 5526 N Interstate 35 service road, around 5:15 a.m. on Friday, June 16, on reports of an armed robbery in progress. The caller said she was able to escape from the suspects and call police.

The victim said that she met one of the suspects, identified as Emmanuel Grear, 20, a few days earlier at a gas station and she asked him if he knew where she could buy drugs. She exchanged phone numbers with Grear at that time.

Around 1 a.m. on June 16, the victim said that she texted Grear for marijuana and he told her to come to an apartment at 2101 Burton Dr. The victim went to the apartment with four of her friends. The victim said she went to knock on the door alone, according to the affidavit.

Christopher Jaramillo, 19, answered the door with his face covered. The victim told Jaramillo that she was there to buy marijuana and he told her to come inside and pointed her to a bedroom. The victim said that she went into the bedroom and Grear came from behind the door with a handgun and told her "something to the effect of 'I guess you can tell that you're not getting weed,'" the affidavit said.

Documents said that Jaramillo and Grear zip-tied the victim's hands behind her back and both raped her. They then asked her how she got to the apartment and who came with her. The victim said she had a friend in the car. Grear used the victim's phone to text her friend and told her to come to the apartment.

Jaramillo met the second victim at the door and forced her into the bedroom. Grear pointed his handgun at the second victim and demanded money. He then asked her who else was in the car and she told him about the other three girls. Grear then raped the second victim before zip-tying her, according to the affidavit.

Reports said that Grear used the second victim's phone to text the other three girls and told them to come to the apartment. When they came, Grear pointed the gun at them and forced them to get on the floor. He told the victims to get undressed and demanded information from them to try to rob other drug dealers.

A third suspect, Demetri Rogers, 23, and a fourth, unidentified suspect took the first victim to the motel room to go through her belongings and look for money and valuables. While they were there, the victim was able to get away and call police.

The affidavit said that the victim gave police the address of the apartment on Burton Dr. When they arrived, officers saw an SUV exiting the complex at a high rate of speed. They followed the SUV to a residence in the 10000 block of McMillian Drive. They found Jaramillo inside of the SUV. Officers searched the residence and found Rogers, who they were able to identify from the Super 8 surveillance footage.

Jaramillo is being held at the Travis County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and driving under the influence. HIs bond is set at $225,000.

Rogers was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $150,000.

Police are still searching for Grear.
