Killeen theatre could be holding very last show

Channel 6 news reporter Andrew Moore reports.

KILLEEN - A Killeen Theatre may be holding their last show ever.

Completed in 1991, Vive Les Arts Theatre has provided more than 100 performances for the community over the years.

On Sunday, actors performed Disney’s The Little Mermaid on stage, to the delight of children and adults alike.

Actors spend months preparing and this may be their sixth and final performance.

The theatre needs more money and some repairs to the building to move forward and it’s board narrowly voted 9-8 to call it quits.

Some of the board resigned, but that board was elected by a large body of theater members – now those members are getting final vote over the theaters fate.

That will take place Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., where the theater will have one last chance.

“We need a majority,” Stacie Dishon, Vive Les Arts Theatre Board member said. “…a majority vote to keep it open. If they choose to keep it open, we still start nominations for the board of directors.”

That new board would be tasked with finding a way to keep the theatre afloat financially.
