Killeen Vetsports chapter uniting veterans against PTSD

KILLEEN - When Jason Elix had was discharged from the Army due to an injury, he struggled with depression. Elix had planned to serve for at least 20 years. He tried to get back on his feet working on an IT degree. Then one day a professor told him about VETSports.

VETSports is a national nonprofit that helps veterans recover their physical and mental health through sporting leagues around the country. Elix didn't have one available in the Killeen area however, so he stated his own chapter.

Now VETSports Killeen has around 40 members and organizes football, kickball, and volleyball teams in the area.  The teams are both opportunities to have fun with fellow veterans and foundations of support for those struggling with PTSD or just the return to civilian life.

If you would like to get involved with VETSports, you can register for the Harker Heights/ Killeen league here
