Barrel racers will be competing for $25,000 at this year's Summer Sizzle event starting this week in Waco. As one of the country's top events, the race has more than 200 contestants and will see around 2300 runs.
It's a competition that will see ladies of all ages compete with racers as young as 6-years-old all the way up to 70-year-olds. TC Long, Elite Barrel Racing Program Director, said that riders will be aiming for a time of around 15.4 seconds to win the event and that riders will not have time added for knocking a barrel over, rather their run will be discounted.
The Elite Barrel Racing Summer Sizzle is free for spectators and starts Wednesday. For all the information on the event, just click here.
