4-year-old girl dead in murder-suicide near Katy

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS - A 4-year-old girl and a man have died in a murder-suicide at their home northeast of Katy, sheriff's deputies say.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the shooting occurred in the 5400 block of Plantation Forest Drive just before 9 p.m. Thursday.

When deputies arrived they found the man, believed to be the girl's dad, shot dead inside. The wounded girl was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she died overnight.

The department's homicide division is investigating.

KHOU 11 News spoke with several neighbors, all of whom said they never saw or heard anything strange at the home.
“We didn't hear anything - it was silent, and then we walked out and we see everything transpiring right in front of us," said Garrett Thompson. "I just saw a big swarm of - there were probably 30 cops a couple ambulances, and then I heard the life flight.”
Neighbors claim the mom was not home at the time of the shootings but was the one who discovered the terrible scene.

The names of of those involved have not been released.
