Local police nab knife-wielding store robbery suspect

WACO - Waco police arrested a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery early Saturday morning of a Stripes Convenience Store located at 4101 Robinson Drive.

According to police, Just before 1:00 a.m. Roosevelt David Davis Jr. entered the store wielding a knife and demanded the clerk to either open the safe or the cash drawer. The clerk was unable to access the safe and refused to open the cash drawer.Davis grabbed $150 worth of Texas Lottery scratch tickets and fled the scene.

A responding Waco Police Officer nearby spotted him leaving the scene.The officer apprehended him after he jumped the fence attempting to escape into the University Apartment complex on Primrose. With the help of other officers, Davis was taken into custody. 

Officers found methamphetamine and Xanax pill on Davis. He is charged with Possession of Drugs and Aggravated Robbery.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
