Man arrested after standoff in Kempner

KEMPNER - A man barricaded in a home in the 3200 block of Sally Circle in Kempner, just outside of Killeen surrendered to authorities Monday night.

The Bell County Sheriff's Department deployed a full tactical response to the home after a family disturbance call to 911. A woman told police her husband, Christopher Gleave, assaulted her and their children. Deputies believe Gleave may have fired rounds from a shotgun but no one was injured.

After approximately 2 hours of negotiations, Gleave surrendered to authorities and was taken for a mental evaluation. The family was allowed to return to the home.

Gleave was charged with Assault that causes bodily injury to a family member, theft and two counts of bail jump-failure to appear in court.
