Donate to help homeless veterans through Operation Stand Down

Operation Stand Down at Channel 6 Studios

TEMPLE - Channel Six News is proud to support the 2nd Annual Spring Operation Stand Down Central Texas event by holding our own donation drive -- the day before -- on Friday, April 21.

Our staff and on-air talent will be at the station all-day Friday, accepting new or gently used items that will be donated to local homeless veterans via Operation Stand Down the following day.

You can donate gently-used adult-size backpacks, which will later be filled with goods by Operation Stand Down. Or, you may donate essential items like towels, washcloths, sleeping bags, summer clothing, tennis shoes, boots and water bottles. We will also accept new socks, undergarments, non-perishable snacks, ChapStick, sunscreen, bug repellant, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (no travel sizes, please).

Channel Six Evening Anchor Doug Currin and Military Reporter Jillian Angeline will deliver all donated items to Operation Stand Down personnel at their official spring event the following day (4/22) at the National Guard Armory in Killeen.

To make a donation, simply stop by our brand-new Channel Six News studios at 215 N 3rd Street in Temple on Friday, April 21. Staff will take your donations, and you may even get to meet some of our team!

Operation Stand Down Central Texas is a 100 percent volunteer-run organization that uses all of its funds locally. Its mission is to help homeless veterans who fought for their country.
