Fort Hood identifies soldier who died after apparent motorcycle crash

Fort Hood released the name Friday of the soldier who died of injuries stemming from an apparent motorcycle crash on June 30.

The victim was Staff Sgt. Anthony Ray Lovell, 40, according to Fort Hood. Lovell's home of record was listed as Constantinople, Arizona.

He first entered active-duty military service in Sept. 1997 as a cavalry scout and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division on Fort Hood since March 2015. He deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Killeen Police Department is investigating his death.
