Starting Thursday the Holland Corn Fest is the place you want to be for all things corn. It kicks off Thursday night with the carnival, then Friday is the glow run and live music, and come Saturday the competitions fire up.
Corn cob bobbing, corn eating, corn cob throw, and just in case you wanted more corn competitions there's the corn spitting contest. But it's not all about corn, surprisingly, the chicken flying contest is one of the big crowd pullers. The chickens are loaded into the chicken launcher, a letterbox, then gently coaxed toward the opening before they are released and flap till they can't flap anymore, and hopefully winning. The record is 96 feet.
