KILLEEN - Rims and tires seem to be at the top of some thieves lists in Killeen and they're targeting car dealerships. Now officers there need your help tracking down the bandits before they strike again. Killeen officers say a tan or silver Chevy will drive into a car lot, a white man will hop out of the car, steal some tires and rims and then speed off.
Managers at Roger Beasley Mazda in Killeen say this isn't the first time something like this has happened in the city. They say car dealerships in the area are targeted often because of the open lot layouts and the fact that there's usually no one watching the cars at night. Rodger Beasley Mazda employees say after their lot was hit in the past they've since installed several security cameras to prevent future crimes, because they say having to replace stolen property gets expensive.
"You come to work the next day and your car is sitting on blocks that you have out on your lot and it sucks because you have to spend money to replace what was stolen so I definitely don't have any sympathy for those guys out there" says Roger Beasley Mazda Assistant Sales Manager Ray Green.
Green also says all Killeen car dealerships should think about increasing security measures until the tire thief is captured.
"If you don't have the right security measures you're going to end up throwing away money because those thieves aren't going to stop, they'll just keep trying" says Green.
Killeen police also say it's possible a second man could be involved with the tire thefts.
