New website feature helps Waco citizens find lost pets

WACO - The city of Waco announced Monday that it is launching a new lost pets web feature.

Along with the animal shelter, the City of Waco Animal Care Unit is launching the feature to help citizens with lost pets.

Citizens can visit lostpetswaco.com to see within less than an hour a map of where animals in the field were picked up by Animal Care Officers.

A photo, description of the animal and what time they were picked up can also be seen by visitors.

The map offers a ‘This month’ option, so citizens can see where across Waco and parts of McLennan County that animals were picked up, as well as a search by the owner’s address in hopes of their pet would not wander too far from their residence.

Animals found will appear on the Humane Society of Central Texas’ website as an adoptable animal after a 72-hour hold at the shelter.
