One Arrested, One at Large After Police Chase in McLennan County

WACO -- One person was arrested, and another is at large after a police chase in Waco Sunday evening.

According to DPS Troopers, the chase started on Lake Shore Drive when a vehicle with three people inside refused to pull over for a traffic stop. The car then drove off at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour -- sometimes driving on the wrong side of US 77/81.

At one point, the car crashed into a fence off Waco Drive at 812 Garrison St. in Waco. The driver and one passenger ran from police on foot, while a third passenger surrendered. Troopers chased the driver for two blocks before they arrested him.

The driver is identified as Ricky Torres, 25, of Waco. He was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, DWI and driving with an invalid license. He was taken to an area hospital and then transported to the McLennan County Jail.

One male passenger remains at large.
