Copperas Cove High School students were moved indoors after reports of a clown being seen on the railroad tracks across from the high school.

COPPERAS COVE - Copperas Cove High School students were moved indoors after reports of a clown being seen on the railroad tracks across from the high school Wednesday morning.

This comes after several reported “creepy clown” sightings and threats around the nation in addition to local central Texas cities.

Copperas Cove ISD issued a statement to Channel 6:

The safety of students and staff are the top priority at CCISD.   Due to national reports warning that clowns will show up at schools threatening harm, CCISD took all precautions and Copperas Cove High School students were moved indoors when a clown was reportedly seen on the railroad tracks across from the high school this morning. The sighting of the clown remains unconfirmed. Once Copperas Cove Police Department secured the perimeter of the campus, regular teaching and learning operations resumed.  CCISD will continue to monitor the situation and work with the CCPD.
