New trial date set after Twin Peaks mistrial for Jake Carrizal

A new trial date has been set for Dallas Bandido Christopher Jake Carrizal.

The retrial of Dallas Bandido Jake Carrizal will be held April 2, 2018, a court coordinator confirmed.

Last week, after nearly 16 hours of deliberations, Judge Matt Johnson declared a mistrial in Carrizal's first trial after the jurors said they were deadlocked on all three charges against him.

Carrizal had been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity with an underlying offense of murder, engaging in organized criminal activity with an underlying offense of aggravated assault, and a charge of directing the activities of a criminal street gang for his alleged involvement in the 2015 shootout at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas.

According to a juror in the first trial -- who spoke with Channel 6 after the mistrial was declared -- the jurors had been leaning toward a not guilty verdict on all three charges before the mistrial announcement.
