Social media threat prompts lockdown at Midway High School

A person of interest in being questioned after a Social Media threat forced Midway High School to go into lockdown.

WACO - Hewitt Police investigated a social media threat made against Midway High School Wednesday morning.

The school was placed on soft lockdown while police and administrators investigated the credibility of the threat.

The students were sent directly to classes for security purposes.

Midway ISD sent a letter home to parents that said in part, "Thank you to those who notified authorities about the social media post.  We take situations like this very seriously, and thank you for your role in supporting our safe school policy and procedures."

Hewitt Police said the parent of a student called them around 1:30 a.m. after seeing a threatening post on SnapChat.

Police said the post showed a picture of a gun warning people to stay away from Midway High School.

Police were questioning a person of interest but had not arrested anyone.
