Suspect in officer killing married hours before arrest

SAN ANTONIO – A marriage license obtained by KENS 5 shows the suspect in the murder of SAPD Det. Benjamin Marconi was married the day after allegedly committing the crime.

Otis Tyrone McKane, 31, was arrested Monday in the shooting death of 50-year-old Det. Marconi. Marconi  was outside the Public Safety Building in his patrol car writing a traffic ticket late Sunday morning when McKane approached and shot him twice in the head.

According to the marriage license, McKane married Christian Chanel Field at 9:57 a.m. on Monday, November 21 at the Bexar County Courthouse.

When McKane was arrested on Monday around 4:30 in the afternoon, he was with an unidentified woman and a 2-year-old child.
