Suspect robs, takes money from Hewitt dollar store

Hewitt Police are investigating a Friday night aggravated robbery of a Dollar General and they are asking the public’s help to identify the suspect.

Officials said around 9:30 pm., the suspect entered the store located in the 500 block of N Hewitt Drive and approached the clerk who was cleaning up and preparing to close the store. He is described as a heavy-set black male, mid to late 20s, between 5’08” – 6’01”, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and an unknown type gray/black baseball cap.

The clerk told officers the suspect asked if the register was open and responded to the man asking if he needed any help. The clerk said the suspect lifted his shirt slightly, showed her the “grip” of a pistol that he had in his front pants pocket, and demanded money from the register.

Money was handed to the suspect and he walked out of the store toward Hewitt Drive.

The amount of money taken from the store is unknown.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the Hewitt Police Department at 254-666-6272.
