Teens Take Part In Impaired Driving Simulator

Temple High Students Learn Safety Tips

TEMPLE- Students at Temple High School were taught safe driving techniques through a number of activities including the Impaired Driving Simulator.

The students were required to go through a course of cones while they were sober. Then they were given a pair of impairment goggles and were required to go through the course again.
Thomas Pechal with the Temple Fire Department says this course is meant to teach the students how to drive "safe, smart, and sober."

Aside from the simulator, the students took part in other activities like the ring toss and ball toss wearing the impairment goggles.

Bryce Young, a Temple High Student, describes his experience, "I felt like it was okay without the goggles then with the goggles, I started out and saw two cones then at the end I was seeing four."
