Apartment fire kills 1 in Temple

TEMPLE - Update per Temple FD: Temple Fire Marshal’s Office has identified Mr. Howard Lee McLin, age 65 as the man who died in an early morning apartment fire Wednesday, October 5, 2016. 

Temple firefighters responded to Lakeway Apartments, 2105 West Adams Avenue for a possible structure fire and reported smoke coming from the roof of a four unit single story apartment building.  During extinguishing efforts, firefighters located Mr. McLin’s body inside his apartment.

The members of Temple Fire & Rescue extend their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. McLin for his tragic loss of life.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Original Story

One person is dead after police received a call of an apartment fire early this morning.

It happened at the Lakeway Apartments on West Adams Avenue. The fire began just after 2 am on the back side of the unit.

Energy company ONCOR  is going to shut down the power of the apartments leaving three other units displaced.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
