Temple restaurant named top-10 pizza spot in Texas

Channel 6 news reporter Kurtis Quillin reports.

TEMPLE - Italiano's Pizza, Pasta, & Subs in Temple, Texas has been named as one of Texas' top-10 pizza joints in the state.

The pizza shop, located across from Baylor Scott and White Hospital, claimed the eighth spot on the list, which was released last Wednesday by BestThingsTexas.com.

The article states:

Italiano’s brings some of the best New York-style pizza to the fine folks of Temple, Texas. The extensive menu includes subs, calzones, Stromboli’s, pasta, specialty pizzas, and customized pizzas. Catering is available for any occasion, in addition to dine in, call in, and carry out options. Make sure to check their website before ordering for deals of the day.

Owner Jose Sanchez had no idea of his restaurant's accomplishment until a customer sent him a link to the list.

"It's a recognition to the work of everyone here, the staff and us, it was very fulfilling," Sanchez said. "But we didn't think anyone would know. All of a sudden a lot of new people started coming and started telling us about the ranking."

Since the list was released, business has been booming. Customers have been funneling through the door for the Temple restaurant's prized pizza, stromboli, and calzones.

Italiano's opened for business in 2009, and have been slinging Za's ever since.

One Killeen woman said she drove to Temple to try Italiano's Pizza, and has been coming back once a week ever since.

The staff at Italiano's said working for one of the state's most famous pizza places is fulfilling and makes the seven-day work week worth while.

Italiano's is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
