Temple's Lions Park mostly open in time for Mother's Day

Temple's 100-acre Lions Park is nearly completely back open after flood waters caused the popular destination to shut down in April.

Several families were out enjoying themselves Friday afternoon.

At least one playground at the park remains under construction, but the ball fields, dog park and most of the trails were open, as of Friday -- making the park a perfect stop for the Mother's Day weekend.

The park boasts a disc golf course, BBQ grills and a two mile hike and biking trail. It is located at 4320 Lions Park Rd. in Temple and is managed by the city.
