Waco attorney wants to run for district attorney

A Waco criminal attorney said he wants to be the new district attorney in McLennan County.

Barry Johnson spent almost 30 years practicing law in Dallas, but recently moved back to Waco. He told Channel 6 the Twin Peaks case was mishandled by the District Attorney's office and exposed the county to a significant financial catastrophe.

Johnson had an unsuccessful run for district judge in Dallas last year.

Johnson said he plans to run as a Republican in the primaries in March.
