Waco PD suspends officer indefinitely after internal investigation

A Waco police officer accused of grabbing a man by the throat during a traffic stop was suspended indefinitely.

WACO - An internal investigation of a Waco police officer that was charged with the May 4 assault of Qualon Deshon Weaver has concluded.

Officer George Neville was suspended indefinitely by Interim Police Chief Frank Gentsch

Neville along with two other officers pulled over and arrested Weaver. Weaver claimed Neville grabbed him by the throat while the others watched.

The police department became aware of the incident on June 9 and a detective was assigned to determine if criminal charges were applicable against any of the officers involved.

Neville was charged for a Class A assault and turned himself in on August 18. He later bonded out of jail.

The other officers did not receive any criminal charges. However, they each received 5-day suspensions as a result of the internal investigation.
