Wanted fugitive arrested after evading cops w/pregnant girlfriend in car

A wanted fugitive was arrested Monday after he fled from the scene of a vehicle crash in Waco.

Police were searching Monday morning for Justin Romo, who was wanted for a parole violation and a robbery warrant.

The Waco Police Traffic Unit was given information that Romo was in the area of 17th Street and Baylor Avenue. Police said Romo was driving a black 2012 Chrysler 300 when he was spotted and officers attempted to stop his vehicle near 18th Street and Interstate 35.

Romo fled from the officers and led them on a pursuit, police said.

According to WPD, Romo eventually crashed into another citizen's vehicle at 17th Street and Dutton Avenue.

Romo's pregnant girlfriend was in the vehicle during the chase and she, nor the individual in the other vehicle, were injured in the crash, according to authorities.

Romo was medically cleared and taken to jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault, evading in a motor vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams (Methamphetamine), possession of marijuana under two ounces, resisting search, and driving while license is invalid (DWLI).
