Roller Coaster Embarrassment Motivates Weight Loss

(KCEN) - Riding an amusement park roller coaster is taken for granted by most people, but for a Texas man, it came as a source of pride and accomplishment.

Last summer Timothy McCarty wasn't allowed to ride the Powder Keg Roller Coaster because the lap bar wouldn't go down all the way.

He was embarrassed to realize he was 100 pounds over the posted weight limit.

The 42-year-old father of three immediately cut out soda, joined a gym, and return to the same roller coaster this past Friday.

"Just thinking about the journey, soon as they put the bar down that was pretty amazing," says McCarty.

Now at 185 pounds Timothy says he's not finished yet.

McCarty says he's training to compete in a triathlon in the coming months.
