(KCEN) – The Hewitt Police Department is investigating the discovery of two human skeletal remains found in a heavily wooded area in Hewitt.
Hewitt Police received a call on Friday around 7:15 p.m. about possible human remains near the 100 block of Bridle Trail. When officers arrived to the wooded area they were able to confirm the skeletal remains were human.
Police say the area was secured and on Saturday morning Hewitt detectives and the members of the DPS Crime Lab began a search of the wooded area. That's when they found a second set of skeletal remains not far from the initial discovery on Friday.
Both remains were collected and are now in Dallas for forensic testing. Detectives do not know the age, race, gender or cause of death at this time.
