U.S. Job Growth Not What Experts Expected

(KCEN) -- More bad news on the job front, job growth last month was not what experts were expecting.

The U.S. economy added 169,000 jobs in August and the Labor Department report released today shows the unemployment rate falling to 7.3%, but the number of chronically unemployed continues to grow, the report underlines a disappointing trend of slowing hiring trends from the beginning of the year.

Most of the new jobs were in traditionally lower-paying industries such as retail and restaurants.
