Hundreds of central Texans attended Veterans Day ceremonies at the Temple and Waco VA Medical Centers Monday.
Congressman John Carter spoke at the one in Temple.
There was a mix of celebration, solemnity and solidarity, as the event transitioned from speeches, music and tradition to an emotional wreath- and flower-laying for those who died this past year.
81 new names were added to a granite memorial on the medical center's lawn.
36-year old Army Veteran Autumn Entrop's name was added.
She died unexpectedly on August 6th.
Her sister, Amber Thompson, was moved by the show of support from fellow veterans.
"It's very overwhelming, it makes me happy, my sister would be happy too," she said.
After the ceremony the Temple VA hosted a ribbon cutting for its new Community Living Center.
