Baylor Men's Golf in Sixth Place in Hawaii

KAUAI, Hawaii The Baylor men's golf team is in sixth place after one round of play at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. The Bears shot an opening round 6-under par 282 on Monday, and they are 10 strokes behind tournament leader Cal State Fullerton entering Tuesday's second round.

Two Baylor players are in the top-25 individually. Junior Kyle Jones is tied for fourth place after a first-round 5-under-par 67, and sophomore Charles Neel White is tied for 21st place at 2-under 70. One stroke behind White in a tie for 30th place is junior Niclas Mansson at 1-under par 71. Senior Jerry Ruiz and sophomore Andreas Gjesteby are in a tie for 56th place after shooting 2-over par 74 in the first round.

Baylor enters the second round of the 54-hole tournament just two strokes back of the top five. Cal State Fullerton leads at 16-under, followed by Mississippi State at 14-under, Louisville at 13-under, San Francisco at 11-under and East Tennessee State at 8-under.
