CenTex Cavalry Defensive Back Eric Allen will join the Canadian Football League.

The Cavalry announced Tuesday that Allen had signed with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.

Allen, who is originally from San Antonio, played for UMHB before joining the Cavalry as a walkup. Despite a rough start, the organization call him one of its most dedicated players and said he worked hard for this chance.

"This is what the CIF is all about," CenTex Cavalry Owner Randy Sanders said. "It is our job to give these players and coaches the opportunity to show their talent and move up to the higher leagues."

The organization said it wished Allen the best.

"It will be hard to backfill Eric at this time of the season, but we are excited and support his moving up to the CFL," Head Coach Adrian Perez said.

The CFL begins its season in June.
