BELTON - University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players Blake Jackson and Haston Adams have been named American Southwest Conference Players of the Week for their performances in the Cru’s 59-22 victory at 15th-ranked East Texas Baptist University on Saturday. UMHB has now had at least one ASC Player of the Week following each of the team’s six victories.
Jackson, a senior quarterback from Houston and Dobie High School, was 23-42 through the air for four touchdowns and he tied a UMHB single-game record with 359 passing yards. Jackson also ran for a score to account for five of the Cru’s eight touchdowns in the victory. This is Jackson’s fourth ASC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Adams, a junior defensive tackle from Beckville High School, recorded five tackles and 1.5 sacks. He also returned an ETBU fumble 50 yards for a touchdown for his second scoring return this season. Adams added a pass break-up and a quarterback hurry as the UMHB defense held the Tigers more than 30 points and nearly 270 yards of offense below their season averages in the game.
The Cru is 6-0 overall and 3-0 in ASC play following the victory over ETBU. UMHB will now return home to return to action with a 1:00 PM kickoff against 9th-ranked Hardin-Simmons University (6-0, 3-0 ASC) this Saturday at Crusader Stadium.
