WACO, Texas -- The Baylor men's tennis team placed three players in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings, which were released Tuesday.
Senior Max Tchoutakian was ranked No. 54 in the initial singles rankings for 2016-17. Meanwhile in doubles, the sophomore tandem of Will Little and Tyler Stayer are tied for 46th nationally.
Tchoutakian was ranked No. 31 to start the 2015-16 season and went on to post a 19-10 overall record in singles play. He ended the year at No. 84 in the singles rankings, while boasting a 15-7 mark in dual-match competition playing at the top two spots in BU’s lineup.
In doubles, Little and Stayer did not play any matches with each other last season, but were successful with different partners. Little produced a 17-4 doubles mark with four different partners, while Stayer held a 5-3 mark with a trio of other players last season.
It was also announced that Tchoutakian and freshman Constantin Frantzen were selected to the qualifying singles draw of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships, while sophomore Jimmy Bendeck, Little, freshman Bjoern Petersen and Stayer are in the pre-qualifying draw starting Oct. 6. Meanwhile, Little and Stayer are in the qualifying doubles draw.
Tchoutakian will kick off the season Friday at the Oracle/ITA Master's in Malibu, Calif.
