Two Baylor Players Suspended for 2018 Big 12 Opener

Per the Big 12, #Baylor RB JaMycal Hasty will be suspended for the first half of Bears' conference opener vs. KU, D.J. Artis will miss the whole game. These suspensions stem from a fight during the Baylor/TCU game.

Two Baylor players have been suspended as a result of their roles in a fight during the TCU game in Fort Worth.

Per the Big 12, Baylor running back JaMycal Hasty and defensive lineman D.J. Artis will both miss time during Baylor's 2018 Big 12 opener against Kansas. Hasty will miss the first half of the game, while Artis will miss the full game.

TCU safety Nick Orr will miss the first half of the Big 12 Title Game against Oklahoma for his role in the fight.

The Big 12 Conference sent out this release annoucing the suspensions earlier today

Following internal review of the third-quarter play from Friday’s Baylor vs. TCU football game in which unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were issued for all players on both teams, the Big 12 Conference has determined that flagrant personal fouls also occurred during the bench-clearing skirmish.

Consistent with NCAA Rule 9.6.2 TCU safety Nick Orr will be suspended for the first-half of Saturday’s Big 12 Football Championship game vs. Oklahoma.  Baylor’s JaMycal Hasty has been assessed a half-game suspension and D.J. Artis issued a full-game suspension.  With the completion of the Baylor season, both players will serve their suspensions next season in the Bears conference opener vs. Kansas.

“These sanctions are the direct result of clear video evidence which shows  Nick Orr and JaMycal Hasty throwing punches at opposing players, and D.J. Artis kicking and punching at TCU players ,” said Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
