Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf team posted five rounds in the 70’s and the Cru is in fifth place after the opening round of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview. The invitational only tournament is played each fall on the host course for the upcoming NCAA Division III National Championship.
UMHB fired a 292 opening round team total and is just 11 strokes off the pace set by team leader Wittenberg University at 281. Huntingdon College fired a 282 for second place, Emory University’s 287 is good for third place and Guilford College is in fourth place, two shots ahead of UMHB with a 290 total. There is an 18-team field competing in the tournament.
Jarrod Brown fired the low individual round for the Cru on Sunday. Brown posted a one-under 71 and is tied for eighth place. Alden Fortner and Reese Chance both carded 72’s and are tied for 14th place for UMHB. Kyle Revis is tied for 52nd place after shooting 77 and Mats Heien recorded a 78 and is tied for 60th place. Wittenberg’s Isaac Hartley and Huntingdon’s Will Thrash are tied for the individual lead after shooting 67’s on Sunday.
The Las Colinas Course is a par-72, 6,900-yard layout while the El Campeon course is a par-72, 6,820-yard track. UMHB will begin teeing off in Monday’s second round at 9:15 AM Eastern Time.
