Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's and women's tennis
teams opened play at the American Southwest Conference Individual
with a solid showing Thursday afternoon and evening in Belton.
In flight five men's singles, Tevin Ogo opened with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Howard Payne's Andrew Harding. Jordon Jackson opened men's flight seven singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marshal McIntosh of Howard Payne.
In flight one men's doubles, UMHB's Collin Davis and Scott Wilding topped Eli Ramos and Edgar Torres of HPU 8-1. Ogo and Jackson paired for an 8-6 win over Daniel Fraire and Erik Medel of Sul Ross in flight two doubles.
In flight five women's singles, Elizabeth Ostroff dropped a 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 decision to Katie Kerna of Mississippi College. The Cru's Sarah Sedory took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Amy Wallace of the University of the Ozarks in flight seven women's singles.
The tournament runs through Saturday with matches being played at the Yvonne Tennis Center, the UMHB Recreational Tennis Courts and the Belton High School Tennis Complex. Friday's play begins at 8:00 AM at each of those venues.
