UMHB women's golf in fourth place at Lady Bulldog Classic

Seguin, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team grouped one score in the low 70's with three more in the low 80's and the Cru women are in fourth place after the opening round of the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic Monday in Seguin. The tournament opens the fall schedule for the UMHB women.

The Cru posted a 314 team total for fourth place. U.T.-Tyler and Schreiner University share the team lead after firing 309's on Monday. Trinity University is in third place in the team standings, four strokes ahead of UMHB with a 310 total. Hardin-Simmons University carded a 322 to round out the top five in the team standings. There is a 14-team field competing in the tournament being hosted by Texas Lutheran University.

Tori Gatling was the low individual for the Cru and the field in the opening round. Gatling fired a blistering, even-par 72 in her first competitive collegiate round and has a two-stroke lead in the individual standings over Lauren Leslie of Schreiner. McKenna Ralston and Aubrey Starnes both carded 80's for UMHB and are tied for 20th, Emily Ming recorded an 82 and sits in a tie for 31st, Olivia Robinson shot 85 to tie for 42nd and Cassidy Rawls finished with an 87 for the Cru women to tie for 47th.

The tournament in being played on a par 72, 5,863-yard layout at Starcke Park Golf Course in Seguin. Teams will tee off for Tuesday's final round with an 8:00 AM shotgun start.
