GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team open its final tune-up before the conference tournament with a consistent round and the Cru is in third place after the opening day of the D3 West Region Invitational Monday in Georgetown.
UMHB fired a first-round 335 team total for third place and the Cru is 19 strokes off the pace being set by U.T. Tyler at 316. Schreiner University is in second place after shooting 331 on Monday. Tournament host Southwestern University carded a 337 for fourth place and Concordia Texas rounded out the top five with a 339 team score. There is an eight-team field competing in the event.
Cassidy Rawls fired the low individual round with an opening day 81 to tie for sixth place. Olivia Robinson is in ninth place after shooting 82 for UMHB, Tori Gatling and McKenna Ralston both shot 84 for the Cru and are tied for 14th place, Emily Ming is tied for 18th place with an 85 and Aubrey Starnes carded an 86 to tie for 23rd place. U.T. Tyler’s Morgan Loth has the individual lead after recording a 75 on Monday.
The two-day, 36-hole event is being played on a par-72, 5,835-yard layout at Berry Creek Golf Course in Georgetown. Teams will tee off for Tuesday’s final round with a shotgun start.
