Destin, Florida – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golf team put together four consistent rounds and the Cru women hold the lead after the opening day of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational Sunday in Florida. The 18-team tournament field is made up of some of the top Division III women’s golf programs in the country.
Defending national champion Rhodes College, UMHB’s American Southwest Conference rival, U.T.-Tyler, Berry College and Huntingdon College are all tied for fourth place with 320 team scores. Washington & Lee is in eighth place with a 325, Centre College posted 326 for ninth place and Washington-St. Louis rounds out the top ten with a 327 total.
Emily Ming and Olivia Robinson posted the low individual totals for the Cru on the opening day. Ming and Robinson both carded 78’s and are tied for 11th place. McKenna Ralston and Tori Gatling both shot 79’s and are tied for 16th place. Cassidy Rawls is tied for 40th place with an 83 and Aubrey Starnes is tied for 66thplace after recording an 87. Wittenberg’s Jane Hopkinson-Wood holds the individual lead after shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played on a par-72, 5,931-yard layout at Baytowne Golf Course in Destin, Florida. The Cru will begin teeing off for Monday’s Second Round at 9:30 AM.
