UMHB Women's Tennis Closes out play at ITA Southwest Regional Tournament

Tyler, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's tennis team closed out play at the ITA Southwest Regional Tournament Sunday in Tyler.

In flight "A" singles, Chaley Shiffler fell to Trinity's Liza Southwick 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. Angelie Juaneza dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Trinity's Caroline White and AshLee Bilbo fell to Trinity's Kylie Hornbeck 6-4, 6-4.

In flight "B" singles, Elizabeth Ostroff lost in the quarterfinals to Marieke Visser of Southwestern University 7-6(5), 4-6, 11-9. Laura Grunden beat teammate Paola Nunez 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in the "B" consolation semifinals before falling to Cierra White of Austin College 7-5, 6-4 in the championship match.

In flight "B" consolation doubles, Grunden and Sarah Sedory beat Brooke Taylor and Leah Howell of Texas Lutheran 8-3 in the semifinals but dropped an 8-3 decision to White and Kate Willis of Austin College in the championship match.

The tournament closes out the fall schedule for the UMHB women. The Cru men will play their ITA Southwest Regional Tournament next weekend in San Antonio.
