Women's Golf: Highlassies tied for second at Texas Intercollegiate

The McLennan Highlassies opened the fall season today at the Texas Intercollegiate hosted by Texas Wesleyan University at the par-72, 6,898-yard Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas. The Highlassies shot 327-309 – 636 to sit tied for second after day one.

Incarnate Word is in first place with 319-305 – 624. Texas A&M-Commerce shot 321-315 – 636 and is tied with McLennan for second place.

Sophomore Caitlin Brown, a transfer from Dallas Baptist University, shot 76-73 – 149 to lead the Highlassies and is tied for first place.

Other McLennan scores: freshman Alejandra Rodriguez, tied for 23rd, 85-77 – 162; freshman Makenna Davidson, tied for 25th, 82-81 – 163; freshman Tyler Morrison, tied for 25th, 84-79 – 163; freshman Joely Henderson, tied for 35th, 87-80 – 167; and freshman Madison Brooks, 47th, 85-91 – 176.

Other team scores: Angelo State, fourth, 320-318 – 638; Texas Wesleyan, fifth, 319-320 – 639; Redlands, sixth, 321-323 – 644; Wayland Baptist, tied for seventh, 334-328 – 662; St. Thomas, tied for seventh, 326-336 – 662; and St. Gregory's, ninth, 343-338 – 681.

McLennan and Redlands are the only two-year schools in the field. The tournament will conclude with the final round tomorrow morning.
